This thought applies just as much to churches as schools: if the building is really dedicated to the honor and worship of the God who created the universe in all of its glory and wonder, then don't you think you could put just a little effort into making it beautiful?

^SO true. And let's put the emphasis on "beautiful" as opposed to "trendy"..(Darling, you can't tell me about a book, then tell me not to read it! My curiousity is piqued...) :)
ReplyDeleteWeeee-elll, you're a big girl, and I think you can deal with some really weird goings-on. The book is about a young couple in the early 1960's: he's an engineer working on relocating the temple at Abu Simbel because of the Aswan dam, and she has a miscarriage while they're in Egypt. The book deals with the emotional/psychological issues (particularly hers) that result from the miscarriage. She basically has an affair with another man (the author tries to sell the affair as "something else", but I couldn't figure out what the heck it was if it wasn't an affair), and there's lots of "intellectual musings". Definitely thought-provoking, but I wouldn't recommend it to most people. I had a like/hate reading relationship with it. You might enjoy it, totally your call; the library has a copy.
